Inspiration can come at the darkest times, and in the most unexpected places. I often call this one a painting born of chaos. The Covid pandemic led to lockdowns and restrictions on our movements.

We were permitted to go out for walks, and in a London Docklands park I found the red roses which inspired this painting.

Exhibited in 2025 at the Society of Botanical Artists 40th Anniversary ‘Plantae’ exhibition. Mall Galleries, London.
