‘The Point of Balance’

This Iris is so full of memories and feelings of home. Every brush stroke feels like a time line of my life. The slow building of colour along with the close observation of every transition and detail is like a conversation with a much loved friend. A new story.

This variety of Iris must be quite old as it had been growing in my parents old garden for over 50 years. It was already well established when they first moved there, and became a childhood favourite of mine.

When I moved into my own home, my dad brought several rhizomes of the iris with him. And now they are thriving. When my parents recently moved they made sure to take a few with them. The story continues, and the memories move on.

A flower that carries so much love and has travelled so far.
